A course for Foster Carers, Adopters and Other Professionals who wish to understand the difference between 'standard' parenting and 'therapeutic' parenting. This course is essential for anyone wishing to progress to other courses relating to P.A.C.E, Attachment, and Effects of Trauma. These courses are all run by Inspire Training Group, part of Fostering Attachments Ltd. You may have come across the term 'therapeutic parenting' when attending meetings as a foster carer or adopter. When we go out to deliver training to fostering and adoption agencies we are often asked by carers what the term actually means. This short course has been devised to give carers a quick overview about what therapeutic parenting actually means and why we use that term. This course is the first of many and is designed to complement of face-to-face training courses. Naturally we understand that online training is more accessible to carers with their busy lives and give them a good grounding in attachment and therapeutic parenting prior to or alongside face-to-face training.         The Diploma in Therapeutic Parenting is made up of 7 compulsory and 3 optional modules.  The course can be completed in one year, but may be completed over two if necessary. Learners will attend between 2 and 6 face to face workshops/training courses during the course, which comprise of a 6 hour training day (on average). Face to face training will take place nationwide and learners will be given the option of attending training which is closest to them in proximity. (subject to availability)  Learners will also complete guided learning through online video based tuition and completion of a reflective journal. Learners will be provided with tutor support, as well as peer supported learning through a forum. A reading list will also be provided at the start of the course. The qualification is aimed at foster carers, adopters, kinship and other carers of children who have suffered developmental trauma. Professionals who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in supporting families who care for children with developmental trauma, have the option of completing Unit 9 Caring for Carers, as a stand alone unit. This unit emphasises the need for awareness of Compassion Fatigue, and enables the professionals to develop and implement strategies in order to support Therapeutic parents.
